Thursday Ap 18:  Took the plunge and drove the car into Centro; I know, this might not sound like such a big deal for someone like me who has lived in Houston TX, New York City, Sydney Australia, San Francisco CA, Washington DC  - but this is another country, the streets/signage are so much worse even than DC (and I did not think that was possible) and when lost my Spanish is just not good enough to find my way home.

It went OK;  I found there are lots of narrow one-way streets in SMA, and they do not alternate between which way they go.  You might have to go several blocks to find a street that runs in the direction you want to go, or you might have to go around several blocks, by which time you are totally confused about which direction you are going.  But I found a place to park, which, totally unknown to me, was right next to the Jardin, which was my destination.  I am so thankful for small favors.

I went in to meet a friend/former business associate of my cousin in Dallas TX, Ray Guy:  Marshall ???  who bought a home in SMA in 1995.  M retired here full-time with his wife Dawn, in 2006.  We met at the local expat gathering place, La Biblioteca; I had identified myself as having this outrageous red hair, the result of an unanticipated hair dye, MX style - and he has having not much hair at all.
